About
WEDGE (Westchester Disc Golf Enthusiasts)consists of a group of dedicated disc golfers who are looking to expand the sport in the lower NY area.
Our club was founded in March of 2012 with 3 main goals in mind:
1) Community Outreach. The sport of disc golf is a wonderful diverse activity which suites a wide range of interests from casual family time to the serious competitor. Most courses are free to play, and you can start playing on your own for as little as 5$. Disc golf is incredibly easily to learn, but even more difficult to master. A disc golf course is a low environmental impact way of providing timeless entertainment in our town’s parks while drawing larger groups of people. For more information about disc golf, please visit the PDGA website (Professional Disc Golf Association) for a disc golf overview

2) Organization of more events held at our local courses. Currently, between FDR park and Leonard Park there are only 3 tournaments a year. Tournaments are a way to test your skill against other players while serving every skill level. In addition to tournaments, we hope to organize and establish a well tracked system for bag tags. Bag tags hang from your disc golf bag and display a number which corresponds to a ranking. At anytime, another player who also holds the tag can challenge another. The winner of the resulting match up will receive the lower tag number, and thus earn a higher “rank.” We are looking to host “bag tag events” monthly in which we will alternate between our two courses and battle for a lower tag.
3) A means of providing more funding and support behind our courses. As a unified group of players we can organize and deploy work teams easier, raise money more efficiently, and make sure our parks are kept clean from litter. Membership dues can help provide much needed improvements to our courses such as tee boxes, new baskets, new signage, and whatever else a course may need to improve the playing experience.
